Horizons Afterschool Program
Elmwood Franklin’s afterschool childcare program is known as Horizons. This opportunity is offered to all currently enrolled students.
The Horizons afterschool program is open on all days that Elmwood Franklin is in session and is available from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. The schedule includes themed cross-curricular activities planned by Horizons staff, homework time for students in grades 1-8, and special activity days. A daily snack is served at 4:15 p.m.
Reservations may be made on a monthly or daily basis. Parents can send a note in with the student to the classroom teacher, e-mail Horizons director Christine Marth at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 877-5035 to make arrangements. Please make sure classroom teachers are always aware of dismissal plans.
If a short amount of supervision is needed after regular dismissal (for example, if your child has a tutoring session or other activity scheduled), the Extended Day option is perfect. Extended Day runs from dismissal to 3:45 p.m. and is held in the dining room or library. There is no charge for Extended Day from dismissal until 3:45 p.m. After 3:45 p.m. there is an $8.00 fee. At 4:15 p.m. all remaining students will join Horizons and regular Horizons fees will be charged.
Fees for Horizons are as follows:
Pick-up by 3:45 p.m.: free.
Pick-up between 3:45 and 4:15 p.m.: $8.00.
Pick-up after 4:15 p.m.: $18.00.
After EFS Activity: If your child needs supervision after a school event, he or she must sign in with Horizons. A flat fee of $8.00 will be charged. If possible, please notify the school in advance if you know you are going to need this service.
Please note that Horizons ends promptly at 5:45 p.m. Please ensure that you arrive to pick up your child no later than 5:45 p.m.
Billing statements are posted online on a monthly basis. A discounted rate of $200.00 for the month will apply to all accounts in which the student has attended twelve or more days of Horizons in that billing month.
