Pushing Up the Sky

The power of cooperation has become a guiding principle for our student body since the establishment of the Keith W. Frome Pushing Up the Sky Awards. The awards are named in reference to a Native American story highlighting the power of teamwork. In the tale, the efforts of all the people and animals around the world were rewarded when they worked together to solve a problem. We teach our students that each of them has the power to effect positive change with their actions, especially when they work together.

Pushing Up the Sky Awards are presented each quarter to Upper School students in recognition of self-motivated acts of kindness and cooperation. Recipients’ names are engraved and added to the “Pushing Up the Sky” tree in the Upper School hallway to serve as an inspiration to others.
