Afterschool Enrichment
Elmwood Franklin School offers a number of afterschool enrichment opportunities for current students. Please note, these options are run by EFS teachers or organizations outside of EFS, and all payments will be made to the individual or group running the program.
Namaste and Do Yoga with Miss Harris (Prep I - Grade 4)
It's yoga time again! Miss Harris is offering another series of yoga classes beginning Wednesday, January 22. If your child is new to yoga or has attended prior classes, they will LOVE this session. In addition to yoga games, breathing techniques, meditation, and visualization, Miss Harris is adding in a few sessions of SNOWGA (yoga in the snow)!
Dates: Wednesday, January 22, 29; February 5, 12, 26; March 4, 18, 25
Time: 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Cost: $120 check payable to Kym Harris

Engineering for Kids—Junior Superheroes and Fairytales (Ages 5-7)
Students will explore fairytales and superheroes from different points of view and engage in activities to investigate solutions for each fairy tales and superheroes' obstacles. Students will use engineering skills to design and create a tool to hypnotize Batman, construct a tower for Rapunzel, and a goose launcher for Jack's golden egg.
Dates: Monday, January 27; February 3, 10, 24; March 2, 9

Engineering for Kids—Apprentice Minecraft: Amusement Park (Ages 8-11)
This program will have students build their very own Minecraft amusement parks! Students will draft blueprints and plans for their parks on paper before beginning to create it in Minecraft to make it as much like the process of designing a real amusement park as possible. The Theme Park Mania: A Minecraft Class curriculum is designed to introduce students to the concepts of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and the engineering design process. Students will design simulation roller coasters and other amusement park attractions in Minecraft, making them run as autonomously as possible.

Kids Play Chess (Grade 1-8)
Kids Play Chess, LLC, a local chess organization, will be offering afterschool chess instruction and playing time for interested students. The 10-week course is open to students in grades 1-8. Kids Play Chess provides chess sets, boards and clocks, and a qualified United States Chess Federation instructor.
Dates: Thursday, January 23, 30; February 6, 13, 20, 27; March 5, 12, 19, 26
Time: 3:15-4:15 p.m.
Cost: $120 check payable to Buffalo Chess Association
