About Our Program
The Horizons afterschool program is available on all days Elmwood Franklin is in session, providing childcare and enrichment activities for students from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. Our afternoons include:

  • Horizons for Beginners & Prep – Where Every Afternoon is an Adventure!
After the school day ends, the fun is just beginning! Our youngest Horizons explorers enjoy a mix of free play, colorful arts and crafts, and plenty of fresh-air playground time (weather permitting). We also provide a daily snack to keep energy up for all the laughter, learning, and discovery that fills the afternoon—all under the care of warm, familiar EFS staff. Please note: Horizons ends promptly at 5:45 p.m.

  • Horizons for Grades 1–8 – Where Homework Meets Play!  Give your child an afternoon that is both productive and fun! At Horizons, students receive dedicated, developmentally appropriate time to finish homework. Once the work is done, they will enjoy a daily snack before heading out for fresh-air playground fun (weather permitting), exciting games, creative crafts, LEGO® building, and more. It is the perfect blend of focus, activity, and creativity! Please note: Horizons ends promptly at 5:45 p.m.

  • Homework Lab for Grades 1-8 with Mr. Lawson & Ms. Marth – Available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 3:30-4:40 pm
Does your child need a quiet, focused space to tackle assignments before heading home? Homework Lab, led by EFS teachers Scott Lawson and Christine Marth, is available to students in grades 1-8. This afterschool session offers a calm, well-equipped environment with everything your child needs to work on their homework. While it is not one-on-one tutoring, help is always available when they need it to answer a quick question, provide guidance, or give a boost of encouragement.
    • Homework Lab is included in the 4:30 & 5:45 subscription packages for Horizons. There is also a separate Homework Lab Only subscription for families not needing childcare outside of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
