The Horizons afterschool program is available on all days Elmwood Franklin is in session, providing childcare and enrichment activities for students from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. Our afternoons include:

Registration Options
Families can sign up for the year in advance or use the service on an as-needed, day-to-day basis. Families who register in advance for the 5:45 p.m. pick-up option will also receive a 50% discount on After School Club offerings.

The Horizons afterschool program is available on all days Elmwood Franklin is in session, providing childcare and enrichment activities for students from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. Our afternoons include:
- Horizons for Beginners, Prep I & Prep II – Our youngest students enjoy a mix of free play, colorful arts and crafts, plenty of playground time (weather permitting), and a daily snack.
- Horizons for Grades 1–8 – Students start Horizons with dedicated time to complete their homework, followed by a snack, playground fun (weather permitting), games, creative crafts, and more.
- Homework Lab for Grades 1-8 with Mr. Lawson & Ms. Marth – Available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Homework Lab provides students with a quiet space to complete homework with guidance and support from EFS teachers.
Homework Lab is included in the 4:30 and 5:45 subscription packages. A Homework Lab-Only subscription is also available for families who do not need childcare beyond Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Reservations
- Subscription families: Students are scheduled to attend Horizons on all days EFS is in session. If your child will not be attending on a particular day, please let their homeroom teacher or advisor know so they can adjust dismissal plans accordingly.
- As-needed families: To arrange care for a particular day, please notify your child’s homeroom teacher, email [email protected], or call 716-877-5035.
Student Pick-Up
Parents, guardians, and designated adults should pick up students from Horizons at the main entrance. Please ring the bell to enter and sign out with the staff member at the front desk.
Payment Information
Families who have registered for Horizons will be billed monthly through their Blackbaud student account. The pre-registration deadline is September 7.
Families who are not registered for Horizons but need afterschool care should bring a payment method for pick-up (cash, credit, or check). We will collect payment for that day at pick-up.
After School Clubs
After School Clubs are offered in addition to our Horizons programming. Families can choose from a variety of fun and enriching options led by EFS teachers and community organizations.
- Each club meets one day per week from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
- Clubs are tailored to specific grade levels to ensure activities are engaging and age-appropriate. Please check each club description for the grades eligible to participate.
- Students registered for the 5:45 p.m. pick-up option will receive 50% off all club registrations. (The discount code has been emailed to registered families. If you did not receive it, please email [email protected].)
