EFS alumna Julia Badgley '12 recently traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to take part in the World Cup competition for Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE), where her team from Mount St. Mary’s won third place with their company Sweet Fortunes.
Specializing in “fortune cupcakes” (think fortune cookie, but in even yummier cupcake form), the company run by Julia and 13 of her classmates not only bakes, sells, and distributes the cupcakes, it also turns a good profit. The team’s business savvy passed SAGE’s regional competition and the national competition in San Francisco before moving on to the World Cup, where they competed against student-formed companies from twelve other countries, placing third.
