Has anyone seen the lost colony of Roanoke? Perhaps you have your own theory of how this colony disappeared. Third graders have been learning all about the trials and tribulations of early colonists attempting to set up new establishments here in the “New World." Even though colonists were successful in establishing Jamestown, they had to overcome many difficulties. Students discussed the difficulties of setting up a new establishment. They were very intrigued by the mystery of Roanoke. Some students feel very strongly about their own theories of Roanoke Island. Check with your own historian at home and ask them what they think happened to Roanoke. You may be surprised!
