Academic Philosophy

We strongly believe in instilling a lifelong love of learning. It is for this reason we have created a unique environment that emphasizes academic achievement, good study skills, and positive character development. Without question, we set high standards. We also give our children the support necessary to meet our expectations. Because we understand the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of young children and early adolescents, we are able to design our program to meet their varying needs.

The Elmwood Franklin academic program gives each child a basic core of knowledge and competency. When they graduate, our students are well-prepared for academically, possessing the skills and demonstrating the qualities needed for new challenges ahead. Graduating students can choose to attend any of our region’s fine secondary schools or to take advantage of national and international boarding school opportunities.

Yet as a school, we are more than academics. With our strong emphasis on good citizenship, our students learn respect for each other, for property, for environment, and for diversity in culture and viewpoints.

We are a culture of learning, growing, and feeling, dedicated to helping students in every aspect of their development. Our goal is to teach them to become adults who thrive throughout their lives, for the joy of living is to always reach for rewarding challenges.
