Service Learning
In keeping our commitment to enable our students to develop confidence in themselves, demonstrate respect for others, and assume responsibility for their own actions, Elmwood Franklin believes that community service is an essential part of educating the whole child. Each year, every class participates in a service project that is student-driven and reflective of the current interests of our student body and the current needs of our community-at-large.
Service projects have included:
Our students follow the lead of our dedicated faculty and staff, as well as our parent base, who are consistently involved in a variety of volunteer efforts across our community. At Elmwood Franklin, community service is not a requirement but a way of life.
Service projects have included:
- donation of 400 books to the Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County
- Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the FeedMore WNY and the Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo
- winter clothing drive to benefit St. Luke's Mission and Public School 18
- letters and cards delivered to homebound seniors and disabled individuals through the FeedMore WNY food delivery program
